Who Travels With Me?
As we sit together, my awareness will be with you. We’ll be sharing insights, energy, and laughter. Since you may be curious about me, I’ll share some things you might like to know before you choose a partner for your therapeutic work. Once we get started, I anticipate we’ll spend our time focused on you.
- I have degrees in clinical counseling, law, music, and English Literature.. I have a certification in Somatic Experiencing (trauma and regulation specialty work), which I completed in Sweden.
- I love to grow purple plants.
- My training in specialized therapeutic techniques has included intensive workshops, courses, and personal training with leading figures in the field, such as Peter Levine, Daniel Siegel, Laurence Heller, Sue Johnson, and more.
- My counseling, coaching, teaching and therapy work combines almost thirty years of working with families, children, individuals, and businesses as well as at educational, penal, and medical institutions.
- My favorite joke: Five out of four people are bad at fractions.
- I helped to found, direct, and teach at The Green School, an alternative school in Middletown, Connecticut, where we implemented self-directed learning for students across a broad spectrum of learning interests and ages. Some of our children went on to attend top-ranked colleges. Some of our students struggled with challenges commonly associated with ADHD, the autism spectrum, and prior school traumas. All of our students made their own choices to attend school. They came because they found joy there.
- When I grow up I want to be Jane Goodall.
- I worked as an employment lawyer, counseling both employees and employers and litigating and mediating contentious relationship issues such as sexual harassment, disability discrimination, invasions of privacy, defamation, and non-competition contracts.
- My favorite childhood pet was a hedgehog.
- I have worked as a business consultant and career coach for a Fortune 500 company, with worldwide clients in law, accounting, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, and entertainment.
- My clients with psychosis are less delusional than most world leaders.
- My own life journey began on the Savannah in Zimbabwe (then Southern Rhodesia) and has taken me to other parts of the world and the United States. I am grateful to be continuing my global journey here in the Willamette Valley.
- I am an ovarian cancer survivor.
- I have two wonderful children who have supported my life as much as I have supported theirs.
- I love being a therapist at a time in my life when so much of my past journey relates to what I do every day. I look forward to the enriching intersection of my path with yours.
- Travelling in different countries has taught me there is always more than one way to do something.
- I love collective wisdom. That’s why you see lots of direct quotes on this site. Everything else on this website was written by me. It is not canned content from a commercial site. It reflects my own clinical experiences, training and philosophy.
