The Family Is Always the Client
Whether you come to therapy alone or as part of a family unit, the family is always in the room with us. My family and yours. We are part of the webs that connect us to emotional patterns, behavioral habits, physical traits, values, cultural customs, skills, education, and hierarchies such as birth order. Each of these things helps to shape us. By understanding from whence we came, we see who we are and where we are going.
My training as a Marriage and Family Therapist has included studies about the operation of emotions in family units, the way systems in families function, attachments and divisions between couples and between parents and children, communication, and the roles family members assume. Even the body and the nervous system come into play in the way one dysregulated family member affects the rest of the unit. I have worked with high-conflict families as well as conflict-avoidant families. My experience includes work with multi-generational transmission of anxiety, addiction, attachment, avoidance, and more. My experience with families has included counseling, teaching, mediation, litigation, and parenting my own children. Family dynamics are some of the most fascinating operations in the universe. I strive to work with you within your family system to enhance your success as a unit and as individuals.
Every family member wants love and support. Every family can provide that.
